Teenage girls were out in force, as they flocked to Bahrain International Circuit yesterday evening. To see British boy band The Vamps live in concert. I have to say the boys preformed their hearts out. The Vamps were performing for the circuit's race fever event, part of the lead-up to next weekend's Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.
Having seen One Direction in Dubai the previous week with my daughter, I personally think The Vamps were much better. But I'm not a 13-year-old girl thanks be to God! Have to say Think 1D is burnt out. My only criticism was the lead singer mainly stayed to the left of the stage. So for all those young girls trying to catch a wink of any eye of the lead singer, it was to no avail.
My own daughter and many of her school friends ran the second the gates opened. They rushed to the front of the stage. 90 minutes before the start of the concert. It was quiet a sight! I never have seen anything like it in Bahrain before. All these young beauties screaming and running to get there perfect spot.
We are very fortunate in Bahrain that it was such and intimate concert. One of the benefits of living on a small island is, that when artists do come to our shores, it will always be considered small. Incomparision to tens of thousands of people in neighboring GCC States. All the better for us I say, lucky us.
The boys played up until 9pm and being it a school day today most teenagers made a sharp exit. Then suddenly a much older crowd appeared to dance the night away.
At 9.30pm Swedish DJ Otto Knows, best known for his chart-topping 2012 hit Million Voices, took the stage later in the evening to close out the night.
Last night's concerts were only open to those who had bought advance tickets for next weekend's Grand Prix. All ticket holders were automatically entered into a raffle draw for a brand new 2015 Jaguar F-Type Coupe, which was also held last night. The winner wasn't there but I am sure received a nice surprise phone call this morning.
So roll on the weekend for the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2015.
